Traditional product analytics such as Amplitude, Mixpanel, or Heap often allow users to see only 12 or sometimes 6 months. This is often overlooked when initially siding with a 3rd party tool and later becomes a huge burden. We don't have any limitations, and we have customers with up to 10 years of product usage data in their data lake. They are not limited to what they can see. Another benefit we see is the support for "virtual events." These are events that typically data analysts create in the data warehouse with DBT or similar modeling solutions. Virtual events enable the customer to use product analytics for business intelligence, which is not really possible with 3rd party solutions. An example of a virtual event is the "Churn" event. Tracking this event in an app is very hard, while data analysts usually model it in the data warehouse.
